# life: spontaneous emergence of run-and-tumble-like dynamics in coupled self-propelled bots.

<< Drawing inspiration from the motility behaviour of microorganisms, we introduce a highly tunable, robotic system self-actuating into the run-and-tumble (RT)-like motion. It comprises two disk-shaped, centimeter-scale programmable robots individually programmed to perform overdamped active Brownian (AB) motion and connected by a rigid rod. The rod is attached to pivot points located on off-centered, mirror-symmetric points on each robot, allowing for its free rotation at both ends. >>

AA << show that the collective dynamics of this system execute RT-like motion with characteristic sharp tumble events and exponentially distributed run times, similar to those observed in microorganisms. (They) further quantify emerging dynamics in terms of tumbling frequency and tune it over a wide range of experimental parameters. >>

AA << also develop a theoretical model that reproduces our experimental results and elucidates the underlying physical mechanisms governing the rich phase behavior of RT motion. >>

# life: chameleon machines

<< Large language model-based (LLM-based) agents have become common in settings that include non-cooperative parties. In such settings, agents' decision-making needs to conceal information from their adversaries, reveal information to their cooperators, and infer information to identify the other agents' characteristics. To investigate whether LLMs have these information control and decision-making capabilities, (AA) make LLM agents play the language-based hidden-identity game, The Chameleon. >>️

<< Based on the empirical results and theoretical analysis of different strategies, (AA) deduce that LLM-based non-chameleon agents reveal excessive information to agents of unknown identities. # life: the Age of hallucinatory artificial intelligence (AI); the beginning.

<< It’s well known that all kinds of generative AI, including the large language models (LLMs) behind AI chatbots, make things up. This is both a strength and a weakness. It’s the reason for their celebrated inventive capacity, but it also means they sometimes blur truth and fiction, inserting incorrect details into apparently factual sentences. >>

<< They sound like politicians, they tend to make up stuff and be totally confident no matter what. >> Santosh Vempala. ️

<< Chatbots err for many reasons, but computer scientists tend to refer to all such blips as hallucinations. It’s a term not universally accepted, with some suggesting ‘confabulations’ or, more simply, ‘bullshit’. The phenomenon has captured so much attention that the website Dictionary.com picked ‘hallucinate’ as its word of the year for 2023. >>️

<< Because AI hallucinations are fundamental to how LLMs work, researchers say that eliminating them completely is impossible. >>️

# life: apropos of saliva healers, herd immunity revisited and now hypothetically approachable even within NIH

<< The most compassionate approach that balances the risks and benefits of reaching herd immunity, is to allow those who are at minimal risk of death to live their lives normally to build up immunity to the virus through natural infection, while better protecting those who are at highest risk. We call this Focused Protection. >>
(#1) - Martin Kulldorff, Sunetra Gupta, Jay Bhattacharya. Great Barrington Declaration. Oct 4, 2020. https://gbdeclaration.org/

FonT
From my point of view 'herd immunity'  can be engineered if and only if, even in the case of sars-covid-19 or flu, simultaneous protection is used with an effective, easy available, antiviral drug.

In this regard, a non-compassionate but logical easy approach could be the indirect inhalation of alcohol ~70% already at the first signs of rhinorrhea, as follows:

(-) start self-treatment (spray plus cotton mask):

(-) outcomes

Ultimately, here it could hypothesize a case of historic, singular checkmate of 'one against all'. Anzicheforse?

# life: Potus race, Kamala knows her jazz

<< a video showing Harris emerging from a record store in Washington DC has recently gained massive traction on social media. The footage, taken in May 2023, shows her engaging with journalists while displaying and talking about the records she had purchased. This video clip was notably shared and reposted among the European jazz community – not people you’d necessarily think would be hugely interested in the musical tastes of US presidential candidates. >>

<< Harris’s purchases included three classic jazz albums by notable African American artists: Charles Mingus’s 1972 album Let My Children Hear Music, Roy Ayers’ 1976 Everybody Loves the Sunshine, and the 1959 collaboration of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong on Porgy and Bess. >>️

<< Liking and knowing jazz, in some circles at least, suggests sophistication, intellectualism, and a leaning towards advocacy for cultural unity through diversity. The improvisational and creative elements found in jazz might also translate to a degree of flexibility in her politics. >>

<< The love of music is not necessarily an electoral strategy. But it would be interesting to find out which approach resonates most with voters ahead of the coming US election: scattergun and with no particular demographic focus, or targeted and consistent. >>

# life: landing on a swinging perch: peach-faced lovebirds (Agapornis roseicollis) prefer extremes.

<< Birds frequently must land safely and accurately on moving branches or power lines, and seemingly accomplish such maneuvers with acrobatic precision. To examine how birds target and land successfully on moving supports, (AA) investigated how peach-faced lovebirds (Agapornis roseicollis) approach and land on a swinging perch.  >>️

<< In support of (AA) hypothesis for stable landings, lovebirds timed their landings in a majority of trials (51.3%), when the perch was approaching either extreme of its motion with its velocity nearing zero (27.5% in the same direction as the bird’s approach – SDs, and 23.8% in the opposite direction to the bird’s approach – ODs). As a result, lovebirds exhibited a robust bimodal strategy for timing their landing to the phase of the swinging perch. Less commonly, lovebirds landed when the perch was moving at high velocity either toward the bird’s approach (12.3%) or in the same direction as the bird’s approach (11.5%); with the remainder (21.9%) of trials distributed over a broad range of swing phases. >>️

<< Prehistoric humans underwent three major migration events across Eurasia, influencing the genetic diversity of present-day Europe.
